Clinton Ray Howard is a Mi’kmaw maker and horticulture specialist from Glooscap First Nation. He blends ancestral knowledge with formal training to promote natural healing and wellness. He started Glooscap’s Finest in 2021 to make herbal remedies and self-care products that carry both cultural teachings and modern plant science.

He trained in Horticultural and Landscaping Technology at Nova Scotia Community College, and pairs that with what he learned about plants growing up. He makes healing packs and products with traditional medicines like bear grease, sweetgrass and sage, alongside castile soap and essential oils. They are meant to be used, and they also keep Mi’kmaw ways of health and wellness alive by sharing them.

Through the business and his community work, Clinton offers grassroots, sustainable medicine and a way for people to reconnect with their bodies and the land.

“In my experience, these are the medicines I’ve been taught to use as a child, that I’ve used to promote healing on my children, sharing with consumers the cultural aspect and knowledge of incorporating these medicines.”
